“No jab, no work”: Retirement village operator makes vaccines compulsory for contractors
COVID-19 vaccinations become compulsory for residential aged give care workers from September 17, but the same requirement will not equal made of staff at retirement villages.
However, one Queensland retreat village operator has made vaccines compulsory for all contractors visiting its website.
Contractors will have to prove they have accepted at least one COVID-19 vaccination jab to be allowed on site at Queensland's Elements retreat village from September 1, 2021.
As reported by Inside Ageing , the older care supplier has introduced the measure to protect the safety of staff and residents.
Elements' Managing Director, Chiou See Carl Anderson, told Inside Aging the settlement has between 30 and 50 contractors bring down monthly.
"Many of our residents are in their 70s, with extraordinary in their 90s, so IT's essential we put this measure in place to ensure their continuing rubber," she said.
COVID-19 vaccinations will atomic number 4 obligatory for residential aged care workers from September 17, but staff working in retirement villages wish not have the same requirement.
"While the mandate may not expand to residents care ours, it doesn't make water them some less vulnerable," Anderson said.
Anderson said Elements' staff have volunteered to become fully vaccinated "at the early mathematical opportunity".
